It's weightless and glides unto skin like (pun intended) silk.

Hourglass Cosmetics Veil Mineral Primer Review *Updated*

Just a quick post to rave about this new primer that I've found via this post - The Best Primer for Large Pores. It came with quite a price tag but the million dollar question is - does it work? Yes it does. :) If you're looking to spend on your makeup, you really can't go wrong with this primer.

Any foundation that goes over it whether it be liquid or cream, looks absolutely better than without. It also holds the makeup incredibly well, meaning less touch ups along the way. It really does a wonderful job.

It also doesn't contain any fragrance or irritating ingredients so that's always a plus for sensitive skin. One more thing to note is, even though it has SPF 15 - one pump is nowhere near enough protection for your skin. Maybe around 2 or 3 pumps should do it.

I do wish I had photos for you but I'm having a really bad skin day (week really) so maybe next time. ;)

Fashion Houses and Trends

Fashion houses devote a lot of time and spend an enormous amount of money trying to emulate, dictate, and predict trends. They must decide every season to follow, lead, or ignore a running trend if they wish to find themselves in the market. Some designers, in their desire to defect from the craze, inspire a new one instead. Consumers may be able to find smaller ways to embrace it without submitting wholly to it. The designer that has a clear understanding of the en vogue will connect and find their right audience.

Some trends that has become obscure through the decades can be presented in a fresh new way in the new season. There are always new and interesting ways to interpret an idea. Sometimes a label can offer a du jour piece as an accent or an accessory. When presented in smaller pieces, a label can find their designs in the hands of consumers.

Kendall Jenner is the new face of Estee Lauder

High fashion’s current "it" girl, progeny of US Olympian Bruce Jenner and the Kardashian Kween Kris Jenner, is the new face of Estee Lauder. It’s actually a brilliant strategy on their part as Kendall penetrates the media-savvy teens of the new generation, which would be otherwise outside their usual market. That’s an instant 15 million through her social media followers alone.

Speaking of 15, Estee Lauder has only had 15 image models in their history including Gwyneth Paltrow, Elizabeth Hurley, and Stephanie Seymour. Not a bad crowd to be bundled with, so this is quite a feat. Bravo Kris.

Her first product is the black primer, which I hear is pretty good. Primer aside, that pretty face is simply made for print. Gorgeous.

Introducing the first Little Black Primer. Watch the film starring Kendall Jenner as she test drives our New Little Black Primer – with and without mascara. No well-dressed lashes should be without it. #LittleBlackPrimer

Think of it as the little black dress for lashes. Unlike traditional lash primers that are white, this primer is tinted black, so you can use it on its own. Wear it three ways: Tint. Amplify. Set. Wear it on its own to color and lift bare lashes so they stay silky black throughout the day and even overnight. As a primer, it’s the optimal mascara base for volume, lift and length. Or brush over mascara for a long-wearing, water-resistant topcoat that helps reduce smudging and flaking.

The 2015 SAG Awards Red Carpet Rundown

Awards seasons! Which means Hollywood red carpet fashions, the kind I like. :-)

I'll be running down the most popular looks from Sunday night's Screen Actor's Guild Award. As you may or may not know, the SAGs are given by actors to other actors. Acknowledgement from your peers is a great validation, which presupposes an actor is also well-liked. That's something we can't always say for people this industry BUT I'm babbling, so here we go!

All photos courtesy of Ethan Miller / Getty Images.

I love Reese Witherspoon's old Hollywood silhouette. Her simple accessories make for an understated elegance.

Va-va-voom! Sofia Vergara sizzles as always on the red carpet. This crimson number is to die for. Of course, if I had Joe Manganiello as my fiance I'd be hard pressed to look delicious all hours of the day.

Red carpet darling Lupita Nyong'o seems to finally miss with this.. I don't even know what this is. The cut is okay, but the print is just hideous. Next time, love.

Give Jennifer Aniston her statue! Girlfriend never seems to get a break. The outfit isn't popular so far with the most of the media outlets, but its really not that bad. The print is a bit on my grandmother's side, but the cut and silhouette is lovely on her.

On the other hand, this popular Julianne Moore number looks like a limp seaweed to me. It just doesn't flatter her figure. Still went home a winner though, taking home the trophy for her performance in Still Alice.

Congratulations Kiera Knightley on the baby! The colour is lovely and suits her very well but still not feeling the cut on this dress. Perhaps if it's a bit shorter, the layers could have worked out. A it is, it just looks frumpy. :(

Emmaaaa, how much do I love thee? I don't think I've ever seen Emma Stone in an outfit I didn't like. Or maybe I just like her all the time. There's just something about this girl, she's so gosh darn likeable. The outfit is nothing outstanding, but if she works it then all is well. :)

That's it! I'm excited to watch the films this season. I'm bracing myself and my tissues for The Theory of Everything, while Mum's hyped for American Sniper. Weekend come sooner!

Top 5 Celebrity Red Carpet Looks in 2014

Is there a better way to wrap 2014 than through a fashion list? I thought it would be fun to have a quick look at the standout red carpet moments of the year.

  1. Jennifer Lawrence, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 - November 10, 2014 at the Victoria House in London

Jen looked absolutely stunning with her smokey eyes and sultry white Thierry Mugler dress during the after party of her wildly successful franchise. This was after the film's world premiere at Odeon in Leicester Square, UK. The unfortunate "slip" happened shortly thereafter but in my opinion, this dress was worth it. ;)

She donned simple earrings courtesy of Norman Silverman. Her hair is pinned in a bun to showcase her ensemble.

Kylie Jenner wins in Alexandre Vauthier Couture and Tamara Mellon pumps.
  2. Kylie Jenner, The 2014 American Music Awards - November 23, 2014 at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles, California.

You may love or hate the Kardashians, but Kylie Jenner has proven time and time again that she can steal the show. That's not an easy title to come by in a line of limelight hogging siblings. Her hair can use some improvement but that wine colored dress, mesh heels, and accessories were all on point that evening.

  3. Lupita Nyong'o, The 2014 Screen Actor's Guild Awards - Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, California

The inimitable Lupita has been on a roll this year, both on and off the red carpet. There were so many red carpet ensembles of hers to choose from but this exquisite look courtesy of Gucci stands a tad more than the rest. She went on to win best supporting actress that night for her work in 12 Years a Slave.

  4. Taylor Swift, The 2014 Academy of Country Music - MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

With her shift from country music to pop, the rubicon has been crossed. Suffice to say, the power of Taylor Swift transcends as she proceeded to dominate the entire music industry. With her new album, her milestones are now in league with The Beatles and her celebrity is arguably as ubiquitous in the media as the band was in their heyday. Her infamous move against streaming giant Spotify has also influenced the way the music business is wading through technology and the masses. In 2014, Taylor Swift turned 24 and was on top of the world.

  5. Blake Lively, 2014 MET Gala - May 5, 2014, New York, NY

Mrs. Reynolds channeled old Hollywood glamour and looked picture perfect in her custom Gucci gown at the 2014 Met Ball in New York. The gown is made from premiere silk and chiffon, and embroidered with rose-gold paillettes. She has had quite a year as well, with the successful launch of her lifestyle website, Preserve.
